Terms of use
The short version: Shortlists is free practice and planning help. Use it honestly, don’t abuse it, and don’t treat it as a guarantee of a job.
1. Who we are
Shortlists (“Shortlists”, “we”, “us”) is a website for college students in India, run by Shortlists, New Delhi. These terms apply when you use the site or create an account. Using Shortlists means you agree to them. If you don’t, please don’t use the site.
2. What Shortlists is, and isn’t
- Shortlists gives you practice (group discussions, interviews, cases, guesstimates, aptitude), planning tools (calendar, tracker, résumé and outreach helpers) and links to opportunities listed elsewhere.
- We don’t promise you an internship, a job, a shortlist or a score. Practice feedback is generated by rules we wrote and is meant for learning, not as an assessment by any employer.
- Opportunities, competitions and company names come from public sources and link back to them. Shortlists is not affiliated with any employer, competition organiser or college, and doesn’t apply on your behalf. Check dates and eligibility on the original page before you act.
- Practice cases and classmates are fictional unless a source is named. Numbers in them are made up.
3. Your account
- Give accurate details and keep your sign-in safe. You’re responsible for what happens under your account.
- You can sign in with email and password, Google or your mobile number. One person, one account, please.
- You can export your data and delete your account at any time from your profile. Deleting is permanent.
- Shortlists is meant for college students. If you’re under 18, please use it with a parent or guardian’s knowledge.
4. How you may use it
Please don’t: break or overload the site; scrape it in bulk; try to get into other people’s accounts or data; upload anything unlawful, or anything you don’t have the right to share; use it to send spam or misleading messages; or pretend to be someone else. We may suspend accounts that do, and we may remove content that breaks these rules.
5. What you put in
What you write, upload or save stays yours. You give us permission to store and process it so the site can work for you (for example, showing your own saved answers back to you). We don’t publish it, and we don’t sell it. Things you choose to share (such as a portfolio link or a team invite) are visible to the people you share them with.
6. What we put out
The site, its design, text, illustrations and code belong to us or our licensors; photos and fonts keep their own licences, credited in the site. You may use the site for your own preparation. You may not copy, resell or republish it. Casebook links point to material owned by others; we don’t host it.
7. Payments
Shortlists is free. If you choose to “Buy us a chai”, that’s a voluntary payment to support the site, processed by Razorpay. It doesn’t unlock anything or create an obligation on either side, and it isn’t a donation for tax purposes. See the refund policy.
8. Availability and changes
We work to keep Shortlists running but can’t promise it will always be available or error-free. Features may change, and listings may be wrong or out of date. We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version, and we’ll say so on the site if a change matters.
9. Our responsibility
Shortlists is provided “as is”, free of charge. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for losses that come from relying on the site (such as a missed deadline or a rejected application), or for indirect losses, and our total responsibility for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months (which for most people is nothing). Nothing here limits rights you have under Indian consumer law that can’t be waived.
10. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Questions, complaints or notices: email info@shortlists.in or the contact form.
This page is written in plain language so it’s easy to follow. If anything here is unclear, ask us.
